The Coros Pace 4 now has a new edition, one that upgrades the design of this value-led watch series with an aluminium bezel.
This version of the Pace 4 is dubbed Black Crystal, to disambiguate it from the standard black version with a plastic bezel.
That name does not infer the screen now has Sapphire crystal protection, though, as that would likely require more of a jump in cost than the $30 one from the standard Coros Pace 4 to the $279 Black Crystal edition.
This new style does have translucent lugs, though, the parts that connect the watch body to the strap. There are translucent parts to the silicone strap too, making it appear a little less basic and simple than the plain black silicone of the standard Pace 4 watch.
Coros’s aim here is clearly not to mess with too much else. That’s sensible given how well received the Pace 4 was following its November 2025 release.
The aluminium bezel version weighs just 1g more than the original, at 33g with the nylon strap attached versus 32g for the plastic edition.
It uses 6000-series aluminium, and the black finish is applied using a PVD process, which provides a tough and scratch resistant surface.
“Every material choice — from the aluminium bezel to the PVD coating to the translucent lugs — was made to create something that performs exactly like Pace 4 and looks unlike anything else on the market,” says Coros CEO Lewis Wu.
Coros Pace 4 Features
This is yet another element the Coros Pace 4 can show off to attract those who might be picking between the Pace 4 and Garmin Forerunner 165, alongside dual-band GPS and longer battery life.
My take is this new Black Crystal version of the Pace 4 is mostly a sound upgrade for those who want a watch that looks and feels a little more upscale than the standard Pace 4. I’m less persuaded it’s a big toughness or ruggedization boost.
While aluminium is harder than the plastic of the standard edition, those Pace 4 plastics are pretty great already, much like those Garmin watches use. And while the PVD coating may be tough, scratches and scrapes over the months may make its ageing more apparent than that of the basic plastic bezel. It’s great to have the option, though.
The Coros Pace 4 Black Crystal is available now for $279 with silicone strap, while additional nylon bands cost $29.
