A just-released Coros update brings major changes to current watch lines including the Pace, Apex and Vertix series, and others.

The changes for this latest August 2026 can roughly be split into three categories: live tracking, sleep intel and the presentation of heart rate data.

Live tracking is roughly Coros’s equivalent to Garmin LiveTrack, and it lets you send a link to friends and family — one they can use to see how your race, run or ride is progressing in real-time.

You can create a schedule tracking link, for pre-planning, or just share as the activity tracking itself begins.

Your virtual spectators can then see your position, on a map, through a webpage link.

As Coros watches no not typically have their own form of mobile internet communication, the Coros watch will need to maintain a consistent connection with the paired phone for the feature to work.

While not a feature all that many will necessarily use, especially when some big races offer their own form of tracking, it’s a great effectively free upgrade. Before this the closest Coros had was group tracking and a basic safety-focused version of live tracking.

Other Coros Update Features

On to the next category, Coros says it has reworked its sleep algorithm while bringing new metrics to the fore.

Sleep scores will now incorporate naps, while factors like sleep consistency and sleep stress will have a greater bearing on the results.

This new software also lets you merge recorded sleep sessions, which may be handy if your patterns are so disturbed the watch records sections of it as separate sleeps.

Coros’s brand new displayed metrics are bedtime consistency and sleep stress. The first looks at your sleep patterns over time, while sleep stress can be an indicator of when exercise, alcohol and caffeine too late in the day are affecting your sleep.

Heart rate data gets a reworked presentation too, effectively designed to make the stats your watch collects a bit easier to interpret.

All of these changes rely on a new version of the Coros phone app. Head to your phone’s relevant app store to give it a download. There are some more watch-specific changes, though. For example, a pace metronome tone can now be played through Nomad, Pace 4 and Apex 4 watches, all of which support connection to Bluetooth headphones.
