EA is listening to feedback and it seems many EA UFC 6 players share my thoughts on the visual presentation with Flow State. In a blog dropped on Thursday, June 18, EA announced plans to give gamers the option to turn off the current cinematic, visual presentation of Flow State. There are more changes on the way. Let’s talk EA UFC 6.

Key Facts at a Glance

  • EA released a community update on June 18, addressing Early Access feedback as UFC 6 reaches full launch on June 19.
  • Flow State: a setting to turn off its visual and audio presentation is targeted for July 2026, paired with a new HUD indicator. The mechanic itself does not change.
  • Gameplay: balance work is planned for stamina, takedown bails, striking animations, combinations and hit reactions, with three stability updates already out and more coming.
  • Likenesses: EA is reviewing community-shared examples, with fixes planned for future patches.
  • Roster: some past fighters are absent, but EA plans new fighter additions every month.

What Is Changing With Flow State In EA UFC 6?

Flow State is excellent conceptually and the perks system it plugs into makes all the sense in the world. EA has found a way to gamify some of the distinct skills fighters possess. That said, the everything-else-in-black-and-white visual approach was too much of an immersion breaker from the otherwise ultra-realistic looking game. Clearly, others shared this sentiment and EA is giving fans an opportunity to toggle at least some of the visuals off, though they have to maintain some visual cues.

Play Puzzles & Games on Forbes

Per EA’s note, the new setting will switch off the Flow State visual and audio presentation in both online and offline play, while the mechanic the developers built around fighter identity stays intact. A new HUD indicator will signal when a fighter enters and exits Flow State, and EA is targeting July 2026 for the update across EA Sports UFC 6.

What Gameplay Tweaks Are Coming To EA UFC 6?

There are some stalls in animations as it relates to stopping takedowns and shooting for them. Other stuff likely depends on your style of play. I have admittedly spammed double uppercuts that probably shouldn’t be allowed. However, I will keep firing those bad boys until they’re patched. I’m not ashamed.

EA’s list of balance targets backs that up, naming stamina on the feet and the ground, takedown bails, striking momentum on certain moves, specific combinations and some hit reactions. The studio also flagged three stability updates already released since Early Access, with more planned, building on the systems covered in the full review.

How Is EA Addressing Fighter Likenesses?

For the most part, fighter likenesses are spot on while inside the Octagon. There is some likely planned degradation on the fighter select screen, mostly related to body types. That said, the fall-off in fidelity I’ve noticed the most is in the women’s divisions. Still, fighter likeness is not a major area of concern for me because the game looks beautiful overall.

EA says it’s combing through examples players flagged on Reddit, Discord, social posts and its own forums, noting some are technical issues while others need more time, with fixes planned for future patches. The overall visual leap is a big part of why the likeness misses stand out at all.

What’s Happening With The EA UFC 6 Roster?

EA has gone with an always-prime approach for the fighters in the game. That makes sense for retired fighters, but for active fighters, it would seem everyone included should be in line for an upgrade if they outperform what was originally considered their best performance.

On the roster itself, EA acknowledged some fighters from past titles didn’t make the cut, framing it as the lineup evolving game to game, and pointed to monthly fighter additions rather than naming returns. That cadence will shape how the roster fills out through the game’s first year.
