Ella Langley Breaks A Historic Tie And Move Up Again On An All-Time Ranking

For yet another week, Ella Langley claims the biggest song in America. “Choosin’ Texas,” which arrived last fall, is stationary atop the Billboard Hot 100, the ranking of the most popular tracks of any kind in the United States. The country smash is far and away the biggest hit in America this year, and every time it refuses to budge from the top spot, Langley and her career-making cut make history.

Ella Langley Joins an Extremely Exclusive Group

As of this frame, “Choosin’ Texas” has occupied the Billboard Hot 100’s throne for 17 periods. “Choosin’ Texas” is now one of only four songs to lead the Billboard Hot 100 for at least that long. Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” holds the all-time record, with 22 frames on top – at least for now. That sum will likely increase in a couple of months when the holiday staple returns again.

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus kept “Old Town Road” atop the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks in 2019. Half a decade later, Shaboozey managed the same showing with his first real smash, “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

Ella Langley Breaks a Three-Way Tie

Last week, “Choosin’ Texas” was tied with three other tracks as the fourth-longest-running No. 1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. Now, Langley claims that honor on her own.

Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, and Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” are stationary with their 16 turns atop the tally. Instead of jointly claiming the fourth-longest reign, those three smashes now share the fifth-longest tenure in first place.

Ella Langley Rules the Sales and Streaming Charts

The Billboard Hot 100 uses sales data, streaming activity and radio airplay to demonstrate what Americans are listening to, and “Choosin’ Texas” remains enormously successful in two of those areas. The smash is once again in control of both the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.

“Choosin’ Texas” has never reached the highest rung on the Radio Songs tally, though airplay appears to be playing an important role in keeping the song at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As it continues its historic run, “Choosin’ Texas” collects a fourteenth frame at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales roster and a seventeenth in charge of the Streaming Songs list. It is already one of the longest-running champions in the history of both tallies, and it may continue to alter the all-time lists as it sells and streams well week after week.
