Ella Langley Ties One Of The Biggest Country Hits Of All Time

Purchases of individual tunes have become less and less important when it comes to a track maintaining hit status on the Billboard charts. Sometimes songs open with large sales sums, especially when the artist is well known, but then typically they drop off. Those who love a certain cut, or perhaps simply a musician or group, continue to consume the track via platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, instead of purchasing it in droves for months at a time, which is how tunes used to live on the charts.

Downloads on platforms like iTunes and Amazon completely changed the music industry decades ago, but in only about a generation, they have almost become something of the past. It takes fewer and fewer copies sold to keep a track atop Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, and throughout much of 2026, that spot has been held by Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.” As the country smash keeps its control over the highest rung once more, it moves up again on the ranking of the most successful tunes of all time and matches another sales giant.

Ella Langley’s Smash Rules for a Sixteenth Week

“Choosin’ Texas” holds at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart for a sixteenth week. Luminate reports that the single sold another 7,200 copies in the most recent tracking frame, which is reflected on the current Billboard tallies. That figure is down by about 700 copies from the period before, but still several times larger than the sum managed by the No. 2 bestseller.

“Choosin’ Texas” Ties “Old Town Road”

With 16 weeks at No. 1, “Choosin’ Texas” is now tied as the fourth-longest-running leader in the history of the Digital Song Sales ranking. Langley’s smash sits alongside “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, which managed the same 16-frame run a little more than half a decade ago.

Ella Langley Could Make History Again In Days

If “Choosin’ Texas” commands the Digital Song Sales tally again next week — or perhaps if the cut falls away and later returns, as it has done several times — Langley’s hit will move up again with a seventeenth frame at No. 1. The singer’s biggest cut would then match “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, which accomplished that streak in 2017.

The all-time record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart belongs to BTS, and the group has actually reached a figure no other act has seen on two occasions. “Dynamite” spent 18 weeks ruling between 2020 and 2021. Only a few months after that winning streak ended, “Butter” also commanded the roster for an even 18 periods throughout 2021.

“Choosin’ Texas” Leads Five Billboard Charts

“Choosin’ Texas” appears on 11 Billboard charts this week, and it sits at No. 1 on five of them. In addition to the Digital Song Sales tally, the country blockbuster holds steady at the summit of the Billboard Hot 100, as well as the Streaming Songs, Hot Country Songs and the Country Streaming Songs charts.

Ella Langley Returns to Its Peak on Both Global Charts

“Choosin’ Texas” also returns to its previously-established highs on both of Billboard’s worldwide rankings. The single rises to No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 38 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The former measures consumption around the world, including the United States, while the latter removes all American activity.
