We’re used to tall and willowy models strutting their stuff on the catwalk but, it seems, their robotic counterparts also need to dress for success.

Humanoid robots wearing designer outfits walked alongside human models at a fashion show in Seoul, South Korea last week, offering a glimpse into how the technology industry imagines a future where robots participate in everyday life.

The event, called the Mach33: Physical AI Fashion Show, was hosted by South Korean entertainment technology company Galaxy Corp. and featured robots and humans walking the runway together in coordinated outfits.

Videos and images from the show depicted humanoid robots strutting down the catwalk, posing beside models, and performing synchronized choreography, with fashions including a tasseled blue Texan-style ensemble, complete with a cowboy hat for the robot, and a retro silver puffer jacket, silky dresses, plus space-age black pants inspired by rock star David Bowie.

According to Reuters, the event was designed around the idea of humans and robots coexisting in daily life, with matching outfits intended to imagine how future interactions between people and physical AI systems might look.

Galaxy Robot Park Hosts Catwalk

The fashion show took place at Galaxy Robot Park in Seoul, a recently opened robot-themed entertainment complex that combines robotics, artificial intelligence, K-pop culture and interactive attractions.

The new 180,000-sq.-ft. facility in Gangdong district its creators claim is the world’s first robot theme park, also backed by Galaxy Corporation, an entertainment company that describes itself as an ‘enter-tech’ firm, blending entertainment with technology.

It manages k-pop megastar G-Dragon, as well as Taemin from the group Shinee and actor Song Kang-ho, best known to western audiences for his role as the father in Parasite. Beyond the arena, the park offers a variety of robot experiences, with robot valets welcoming guests at the door and robotic dogs roaming around the outdoor areas playing with visitors.

Humanoid robots have traditionally been demonstrated in controlled industrial settings, research laboratories, or technology exhibitions focused on engineering capabilities, so the Seoul event reflected a growing shift toward presenting robots in social, cultural and entertainment environments.

Robots On The Runway

The runway presentation featured robots dressed in designer apparel paired with human models, with organizers describing the concept as a physical AI showcase.

“We realized that robots, too, need to wear clothes,” Galaxy Corp. CEO Choi Yong-ho said. “Just as every human being is unique, we believe that every single robot should also be distinct.”

The fashion show was part of a broader effort by the company to expand robot-centered entertainment experiences. Choi Yong-ho said that he also plans robot concerts, interactive performances and additional AI-focused cultural events.

The apparel was designed by the company, whose spokesperson said it hopes to launch them under the brand name MACH 33 at the end of the year.

The runway event came at a time when South Korea continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most robot-intensive economies, with more than 1,000 industrial robots for every 10,000 workers. The country has invested heavily in automation, advanced manufacturing, AI and humanoid robotics.

In recent years, South Korea has also launched major initiatives to accelerate domestic humanoid robot development, including collaborations among technology firms, universities and government-backed research programs.

At the same time, robotics companies worldwide are increasingly attempting to move humanoid machines beyond factories and warehouses into environments where they interact more directly with people.

And in the U.S. and Sweden a San Francisco-based company has launched the first AI developed retail store and cafe.

But while modern humanoid robots have become significantly better at walking, balancing, dancing and performing choreographed movements, practical and ethical challenges remain.

But however they develo, at least South Korea will have the best dressed robots.
