F1 Standings 2026 After The Hungarian Grand Prix

McLaren’s Lando Norris secured his first victory of the season at a dramatic Hungarian Grand Prix.

The defending champion started from pole position on Sunday but was jumped right at the start by his teammate Oscar Piastri, who led the pack in the first half of the race.

But things took an unfortunate turn for Piastri after he pitted from the lead for his second stop. Rejoining the race, the Australian man found himself caught in traffic before being crashed into by a lapped Carlos Sainz on lap 39. The incident cost the Australian a handful of seconds that allowed Norris to overcut him the following lap and take the net lead.

And not long after, Piastri suffered a gearbox issue that forced him to retire while running in second with only 13 laps to go, dashing any hopes of a podium finish.

Norris eventually took the checkered flag 15.080 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli completing the podium for Mercedes in third.

Charles Leclerc followed in fourth place in his Ferrari while teammate Lewis Hamilton took fifth, having battled for a podium finish before getting hit with a five-second time penalty for speeding in the pitlane.

Isack Hadjar netted sixth in the other Red Bull ahead of title contender George Russell of Mercedes, who dropped 12 positions from P6 on the opening lap to eventually cross the line in seventh.

The Racing Bulls duo of Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad secured eighth and 10th respectively, with Nico Hulkenberg scoring his first points of the season for Audi, finishing P9.

With 11 races now completed, Antonelli heads into the summer break leading the championship by 50 points over second-place Hamilton.

Russell sits in third, nine points behind Hamilton, with 59 points separating him from the leader.

Leclerc remains fourth with 138 points to his name, while Norris’ win in Hungary brought his points tally to 128, strengthening his fifth place in the standings.
