Following the reveal of Dragon Quest XII, fans online have already come up with a cool new theory about the game’s protagonist.
The subtitle for the game is Beyond Dreams, and it deals with a protagonist who is troubled by visions as he sleeps.
Some have already commented on the fact that he has big bags under his eyes because he is so tired.
However, the interesting part is when it comes to another of the characters that was shown in the new trailer.
Specifically, the humanoid dragon character not only has similar hair but also wears similar armor and carries the same sword.
So the theory is that the dragon variant is actually the same character and is what the protagonist becomes when he’s asleep.
It’s a neat idea and would tie into the whole “Beyond Dreams” aspect, but I suppose we will just have to wait and see if this theory is proven true.
One other interesting part is that the sword the protagonist wields looks like a simplified version of Dai’s sword, from The Adventure of Dai.
This is also noteworthy, as Dai himself is part dragon, and that ties in nicely with this new theory about Dragon Quest XII’s protagonist.
However, some people have also pointed out that this could just be the game’s version of the regular steel broadsword.
In any case, Dragon Quest XII is already generating a lot of discussion online, so here’s hoping the final game lives up to that.
