James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash is coming to streaming video on demand on Disney+ this week following its blockbuster run at the worldwide box office.

Rated PG-13, Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third film in Cameron’s Avatar franchise, which kicked off in 2009. The film’s first sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, was released in 2022, while Avatar: Fire and Ash debuted in North American theaters on Dec. 19, 2025.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña reprise their performance capture roles of Jake Sully and Neytiri in Avatar: Fire and Ash, which picks up after the devastating family tragedy in Avatar: The Way of Water.

As the family processes their grief, a new villain, the vicious Varang (Oona Chaplin) and her fellow Ash People of the Mangkwan Clan come to destroy the Na’vi and Metkayina clans, along with the help of the tyrannical Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), the former Marine-turned-Avatar who works with the Resources Development Association.

Written and directed by Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash also stars Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Jack Champion, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, CCH Pounder, Britain Dalton, Bailey Bass, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss and Edie Falco.

he Disney+ announced recently that Avatar: Fire and Ash will make its SVOD debut on Wednesday, June 24. For viewers who don’t have Disney+, the streaming platform offers an ad-based Basic package for $11.99 per month, as well as an ad-free Premium package for $18.99 per month or $189.99 per year. Disney+ also offers bundling options to include such streaming platforms as Hulu, ESPN+ and HBO Max.

Avatar: Fire and Ash wrapped up its theatrical run on April 16 after earning $404.3 million in North American ticket sales and $1.086 billion internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $1.49 billion.

While Variety reported that Avatar: Fire and Ash had a $350 million production budget and a marketing cost of $150 million, The Associated Press reported that the film’s production budget was $400 million.

How Well Did ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ Perform In Comparison To The Previous ‘Avatar’ Films?

While Avatar: Fire and Ash’s $1.49 billion is a monumental worldwide box office achievement, the film earned far less than the first and second Avatar chapters.

The first Avatar film earned $785 million domestically and $2.138 billion internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $2.923 billion. Meanwhile, Avatar: The Way of Water earned $688.8 million domestically and $1.634 billion internationally for a worldwide box office gross of $2.322 billion before its marketing spend.

According to box office tracker The Numbers, 2009’s Avatar had a production budget of $237 million before marketing costs, while Avatar: The Way of Water had a production budget of $400 million before its marketing spend.

Avatar is No. 1 on tlist of the highest-grossing films of all time before inflation, while Avatar: The Way of Water is No. 3 on the list behind 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which earned $2.799 billion globally. Avatar: Fire and Ash is currently No. 16 on the list of the highest-grossing films of all time.

Avatar: Fire and Ash arrives on Disney+ on Wednesday and is currently available on digital streaming via video on demand.
