Claressa Shields is in an unfamiliar position in her next fight. She’s still the favorite, but when she clashes with Kaye Scott on August 15 in Atlanta, Shields will be the challenger. Scott will be defending her WBC and WBA middleweight titles, but no one is giving her much of a chance to beat Shields. Let’s talk boxing.

Shields Vs. Scott Key Facts

  • Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026
  • Venue: State Farm Arena, Atlanta
  • Broadcast: DAZN from 9 p.m. ET, early undercard on Zeus Network
  • Main event: Shields (18-0, 3 KOs) vs. Scott (5-1-1), 10 two-minute rounds
  • Titles: WBC and WBA middleweight
  • Not at stake: IBF and WBO, held by Desley Robinson — this is not for undisputed
  • Promoter: Salita Promotions
  • Firsts: First women’s headliner in State Farm Arena history, Shields’ first pro fight in Atlanta

The Shields-Scott got a star-power boost on Monday when Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced he would be in attendance. Mayweather took to social media to make the announcement.

Claressa Shields Vs. Kaye Scott Full Card

Per BoxRec.

  • Claressa Shields (18-0) vs. Kaye Scott (5-1-1) — 10×2, middleweight, WBC and WBA world titles
  • Ernesto Mercado (19-0) vs. Emmanuel Tagoe (34-2) — 10 rounds, super lightweight, WBO International title
  • Caroline Veyre (11-1) vs. Bernice Ferreira (10-0) — 10×2, super featherweight, IBO and WBC world titles
  • Danielle Perkins (6-1) vs. Olivia Curry (7-3-2) — 10×2, light heavyweight
  • Troy Isley (16-0) vs. Joseph Hicks (12-1) — 10 rounds, middleweight
  • Hakim Lopez (16-1) vs. Da’Velle Smith (14-0) — 8 rounds, super middleweight
  • Jaquan McElroy (7-0) vs. Alexander Thiel (5-0) — 6 rounds, super welterweight
  • Casey Dixon (7-0) vs. Michael Nelson (4-3-1) — 6 rounds, super middleweight
  • Daniel Mercado (1-0) vs. Rahmel McKinley (1-4) — 4 rounds, super welterweight

Scott, 42, won the vacant WBC and WBA belts by majority decision over Olivia Curry in Detroit last December — and Curry is on this card, facing Danielle Perkins at light heavyweight. Promoter Dmitriy Salita has pointed out that Roy Jones Jr. was the last heavyweight champion to go on and win a title in a lower weight class.

Shields appears to be positioning herself for more competitive fights against women in smaller weight classes. Her biggest paydays and more cement to her GWOAT legacy awaits if she blasts through the likes of Scott, the winner of Mayer-Cameron and perhaps more.

Other notables on the card is undefeated middleweight Troy Isley. He’ll face Joseph Hicks. Former Shields opponent Danielle Perkins faces Olivia Curry. Former Ryan Garcia foe Emmanuel Tagoe will be there to test the undefeated Ernesto Mercado.

I’ll have updates through the week and results after the main event.
