I am not clear on why the Emmy livestream cuts itself short by failing to reveal the nominees for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress in the Drama and Comedy categories, since they include some of the best performances of the bunch, even if they’re not the leads. Fans are invested in those shows and characters, but you have to go searching after the fact for them. So, here they are:

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

  • Patrick Ball – The Pitt
  • Billy Crudup – The Morning Show
  • Shawn Hatosy – The Pitt
  • Gerran Howell – The Pitt
  • Jack Lowden – Slow Horses
  • Tom Pelphrey – Task
  • Carlos-Manuel Vesga – Pluribus

No big surprise here that this is stacked with half Pitt cast members. My pick would actually be Tom Pelphrey from Task, who has been an extremely underrated actor for some time, and this is one of his best performances.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

  • Taylor Dearden – The Pitt
  • Fiona Dourif – The Pitt
  • Allison Janney – The Diplomat
  • Katherine LaNasa – The Pitt
  • Sepideh Moafi – The Pitt
  • Julianne Nicholson – Paradise
  • Karolina Wydra – Pluribus

Katherine LaNasa took it last year, and again, we have 4/6 Pitt nominees here. I could see LaNasa taking it again, and either way, I doubt it goes outside the Pitt circle.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

  • Colman Domingo – The Four Seasons
  • Paul W. Downs – Hacks
  • Harrison Ford – Shrinking
  • Nick Offerman – Margo’s Got Money Troubles
  • Stephen Root – Widow’s Bay
  • Michael Urie – Shrinking
  • Tyler James Williams – Abbott Elementary

Without question, I vote for Harrison Ford in this category, whose performance in Shrinking has been one of the best I’ve seen in years. That’s especially true this season as he maintains his sense of humor after suffering from the effects of Parkinson’s disease.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

  • Dale Dickey – Widow’s Bay
  • Hannah Einbinder – Hacks
  • Janelle James – Abbott Elementary
  • Kate O’Flynn – Widow’s Bay
  • Michelle Pfeiffer – Margo’s Got Money Troubles
  • Megan Stalter – Hacks
  • Jessica Williams – Shrinking

The absolute fan-favorite pick here is going to be the breakout, hilarious, amazing performance from Kate O’Flynn in Widow’s Bay, who led at least two episodes herself, and they were two of the best in the series. Of course, this being Hacks’ final season and Jean Smart inevitably winning Best Actress, it will be Hannah Einbinder. But Widow’s Bay is back for season 2, so maybe next year for Patricia.
