Saturday is here at last and it’s a lovely rainy weekend that I’m very excited about. Rain in the mountains, flash floods, the occasional bolt of lightning and corresponding crash of thunder. The perfect weather to uncover words in today’s NYT Strands grid! Let’s do it!
How To Play Strands
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.
Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Breakdown
Well the corners were key today, holding SWEET, SALTY and NUTTY. I found WHOLE down in the bottom right, but couldn’t piece together WHOLESOME until I’d already found the spangram, BOWL OF GRANOLA, which I only uncovered after CRUNCHY. Do you consider a bowl of granola a healthy breakfast, or are you more in for the eggs, sausages and potatoes? Or perhaps a Mexican breakfast burrito? Biscuits and gravy, perhaps?
