Kane Parsons Drops A New ‘Backrooms’ Upload Linked To The Film

It is not a terribly common occurrence for Kane Parsons, aka Kane Pixels, to drop a new upload of Backrooms on his YouTube channel. In fact, it’s been a year and a half since the last one. But in the wake of the release of his Hollywood Backrooms feature film, now we have a new one.

This footage is not brand-new and exclusive to YouTube, however. It is bonus footage attached to the Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition version of the film, which features what we’re seeing here in this 16:04 upload. It was not clear before this how or if the extra footage would be released, with some speculating it could be limited to a physical Blu-ray release, but not so. It’s live on YouTube for free, which frankly, I would absolutely expect from the audience-friendly Kane Parsons.

The new upload, in typical low-quality, square format as most other Backrooms videos, shows an Async team going into a section of the Backrooms as they continue to investigate and map out the seemingly infinite, self-expanding maze.

Here, they find a line of “Everything Must Go!” signs pulled from Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire, the film’s setting. About half the new video is measuring and cataloging the signs, which appear to be exact physical copies of one another, shrinking and sliding into the ground in various ways. It’s all a bit tedious, but it helps make the second half of the video more tense.

In it, the team carves through a wall to find more signs, but then discovers more than they bargained for. A mannequin, the infamous Cap’n Clark steering wheel and furniture as the Backrooms pulls more and more from the store (at one point in the film, the entire store is replicated almost exactly).

This fascinates the team, though they quickly become unsettled by strange noises and lights, which ultimately lead them to a working television set, seemingly playing nonsense, though I’m sure fans are now going through frame-by-frame to discover its mysteries.

As you might expect, the video ends with a jump scare. A very, very brief glimpse of the horrifying Cap’n Clark monster that wreaks havoc in the final portion of the film.

While secondary to Obsession, the biggest low-budget horror movie of the year, Backrooms also blew up as a big success and as a second example of a YouTuber branching into Hollywood, despite their young age (Parsons created Backrooms at 16 and directed the film at 19). Backrooms made $393 million worldwide on a reported $10 million budget, an enormous hit even for the low-budgeted horror genre. Naturally, a Backrooms sequel is in early development with Parsons on board. Watch the new footage above, and analyze it for yourself.
