The first Madden 27 title update is set to drop and the game hasn’t hit global release yet. According to the Madden NFL Direct social media account, the update includes bug fixes and stability improvements across gameplay, franchise mode and achievements. All of those things are much-needed touch-ups, but there’s another major problem that needs to be addressed. Let’s talk Madden 27.

Madden 27 Title Update Patch Notes

Per Madden NFL Direct.

  • Gameplay: Addressed instances of an unintended “Speed Boost” during specific cut moves.
  • Franchise: Improved NFL Draft stability and presentation, including fixes for Draft cinematics, the Edit Coach screen, and Draft environments in Online Franchise.
  • Achievements: Updated the “Perfect Push Punch In” achievement to unlock as intended.

As it is, when you play Madden franchise mode, the CPU is mismanaging Wear and Tear. This causes CPU-controlled teams to build up injuries at an unrealistic rate. If you’re one of those players that doesn’t care about any team in your franchise that you’re not controlling, you might not care. For those of us that want a fair and more realistic experience, it would be great to have the CPU manage their team’s health properly.

Wear and Tear arrived in Madden 26 as part of the largest franchise overhaul the series had delivered in over a decade. It is a headline feature, not a fringe one, which is what makes the CPU side of it worth fixing.

Fixing the W&T issue is hopefully at the top of EA’s list — perhaps the patch does address it, but just doesn’t call it out as one of the highlights. Oftentimes a publisher will drop patch notes and a fix like this could be egregiously grouped in with this kind of verbiage, “bug fixes and stability improvements.” Pardon me, but I prefer the long, detailed format that allows the user to scroll to find the aspects of the update that may directly relate to them.

I’m still working on my review with a plan to release it after a little more time with the game tonight. Stay tuned for my complete breakdown.
