Millions are currently buying and streaming Confessions II, but as is the case whenever a major star drops a new collection, consumption of older titles grows simultaneously. Multiple albums by Madonna appear across the U.K. music rosters, and one of her oldest full-lengths manages to debut on the same tally as Confessions II, albeit in a much lower rung.
Erotica Debuts at on the Downloads Chart
Madonna’s Erotica reaches the Official Album Downloads chart in the U.K. for the first time this week. The collection, which was originally released in 1992 as her fifth traditional studio LP, opens at No. 90 on the ranking of the top-selling EPs and full-lengths via platforms like iTunes in the U.K.
Confessions II Becomes Madonna’s Fourth No. 1
At the same time that Erotica arrives on the Official Album Downloads chart, Madonna leads the charge with Confessions I. The set becomes her fourth leader and twelfth top 10. She has previously ruled with Rebel Heart, MDNA, and Hard Candy. Several other fan favorites, like Madame X, Finally Enough Love, and the original Confessions on a Dance Floor, failed to dominate by only one space.

As Erotica becomes a digital bestseller in the U.K., Madonna reaches a milestone 25 placements on the Official Album Downloads chart. This week marks the first time in her career since first appearing on the tally in the spring of 2006, just over 20 years ago, that a pair of releases have debuted at the same time.

Erotica immediately becomes Madonna’s second-lowest-peaking title on the Official Album Downloads chart. It nearly ties MDNA World Tour, which spent one frame at No. 91 back in September 2013 and then slipped away.

On this week’s Official Album Downloads chart, Madonna fills four of the 100 available spaces. Confessions II and Erotica launch at Nos. 1 and 90, respectively. Confessions II Leads Six of Seven Rankings in the U.K.
Confessions II debuts on seven rosters in the U.K. this week, and it leads all but one of them. The set immediately conquers the Official Albums, Official Albums Sales, Official Album Downloads, Official Physical Albums, Official Vinyl Albums, and Official Dance Albums charts.
Madonna fails to rule the Official Albums Streaming ranking, which looks only at the projects of any genre and any length that rack up the most plays on Spotify and other similar websites. On that register, Confessions II earns Madonna her first top 10 win as it begins its run at No. 7.
