Fans of The Lincoln Lawyer and its star, Manuel García-Rulfo, had reason to celebrate when Netflix renewed the hit legal drama for a fifth season ahead of Season 4’s premiere. Now comes some bittersweet news: Season 5 will be the last.
Netflix confirmed that the upcoming season will serve as the series finale, bringing Mickey Haller’s story to a close after five seasons of courtroom drama, cliffhangers and compelling characters.
Since its 2022 debut, The Lincoln Lawyer has been one of Netflix’s most reliable performers, with García-Rulfo’s portrayal of defense attorney Mickey Haller at the heart of its global appeal. The first season alone drew more than 260 million hours viewed in its first four weeks. Across four seasons, the series has appeared on Netflix’s Global Top 10 for 29 weeks and accumulated 171 million views since 2023.
Production is currently underway in Los Angeles, where the series has filmed at more than 50 locations across the city, including Dodger Stadium and Grand Central Market.
The Creators on Ending the Story Right
“All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,” co-showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said in a joint statement, expressing gratitude at having the opportunity to give the series proper closure. “From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is of course bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.

What Season 5 Is About
The 10-episode final season is inspired by Resurrection Walk, the seventh book in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series.
Having narrowly escaped a wrongful conviction of his own in Season 4, Mickey Haller faces a new kind of fight. His world is upended when the half-sister he never knew existed comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman. That sister, Emi, is portrayed by Cobie Smulders (Shrinking, How I Met Your Mother). Mickey takes on a grueling habeas petition to overturn a six-year-old murder conviction, but the deeper he digs, the more dangerous the forces working against him become.
Meanwhile, the stakes rise for his trusted team as Lorna (Becki Newton), Izzy (Jazz Raycole) and Cisco (Angus Sampson) step up to tackle high-profile challenges of their own.
It’s a season defined by blood ties and buried secrets. As Mickey unravels a dangerous web of corruption and lies, he must grapple with the fractured legacy of his family – including the one he never knew he had.

In addition to announcing the end of the series, Netflix revealed six new recurring guest stars joining the cast for the final chapter.

They join a previously announced wave of new guest stars including Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Diane Guerrero, Iker Garcia, Patty Guggenheim, Richard Cabral, Steve Howey and Teresa Maria. Also returning are recurring guest stars Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angélica María and Gigi Zumbado.
