Samsung has been testing One UI 9 for multiple Galaxy phones for months (check if your device is included here), but with the OS update officially launching with Galaxy Z Fold 8 series on July 22nd, stable releases are likely around the corner, according to new information.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 And Z Flip 7: One UI 9 Public Beta Coming Any Day
The clearest sign yet that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are close to opening their public One UI 9 beta came this week via Samsung tracker Tarun Vats on X.
Samsung briefly opened dedicated beta program sections for both devices on its India Community forum, though the sections appeared and disappeared within minutes.
This is a fairly big hint that the first public One UI 9 beta builds for last year’s foldables are on the way. Samsung is unlikely to set up community infrastructure for a program that is months away from launching to testers.
Samsung Galaxy S26 One UI 9 Public Beta 5 Is Coming Next Week
For Galaxy S26 owners already enrolled in the public One UI 9 beta program that began earlier this year, the fifth and likely final beta build has been officially delayed by one week.
Samsung confirmed the pushback via its Community forum, citing the need for additional quality checks and stability improvements before releasing the build to testers. The company apologised to the beta community for the wait.
The delay itself is not a red flag; beta programs at this stage focus on polishing rather than adding features, and Samsung holding back a build to get the quality right before a stable release that will reach tens of millions of devices is, overall, good news.
Samsung Galaxy S25 One UI 9 Public Beta Is Next
The Galaxy S25 series is the next major milestone in Samsung’s rollout. Following internal testing spotted on Samsung’s servers earlier this summer, an internal beta build for the S25 has now cleared Google Play Protect certification, according to Android update tracker Fahad Ali Javed on X.
This is a technical hurdle that typically comes immediately before a build is pushed to public testers. Once a build clears that certification, it won’t be long before Samsung opens the public beta program to all users.
Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra owners should keep a close eye on the Samsung Members app. That’s where public beta invitations appear.
What To Expect From One UI 9
One UI 9 brings Gemini Intelligence, Samsung and Google’s full agentic AI suite, to select Samsung and Google phones. It’s not clear how far back Gemini Intelligence extends when it comes to older phones (I’ve asked), but it is the biggest upgrade in Android 17.
Beyond Gemini Intelligence, Now Nudge watches what you’re doing and proactively suggests the next step, so if you’re texting someone about a plan it might offer to open your calendar in split view without you asking.
Elsewhere, My FanCam lets you film a wide crowd shot and then track a specific person in it afterward. Photo Assist now takes voice instructions alongside text, so you can just say what edit you want rather than typing it out.
The privacy features have also been overhauled. AI Privacy Alerts now flags apps that appear to be overusing location data or accessing background permissions more than they should, and there’s a new AI Assistant Activity log that shows you exactly which apps your AI has accessed and when. The Quick Panel has also been redesigned with more customisation options.
