This Friday (June 12), Olivia Rodrigo will return with her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Less than a month before the full-length’s street date, the singer-songwriter chose “The Cure” as the project’s second single, and it arrived a little more than a month after “Drop Dead” kicked off this latest era.

As “The Cure” debuts inside the top 10 on nine different rankings published by Billboard, both of Rodrigo’s previous albums climb on a handful of charts and simultaneously return to others they did not appear on only a few days ago.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Returns to Two Billboard Charts

Between her two albums that mount comebacks, Sour reappears on the greatest number of rosters. Rodrigo’s debut set, which recently turned half a decade old, breaks back onto both the Vinyl Albums and Top Streaming Albums tallies, landing at Nos. 24 and 43, respectively.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts Comes Back to Just One List

Guts, which followed Sour by a little more than two years, only manages to find its way back to a single listing – though it takes up space on more rankings in total. On the Top Streaming Albums chart, which ranks the most-played collections of any genre and any length on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and others throughout the United States alone, Guts is back at No. 46. That’s only three spaces beneath where its predecessor currently lies.

Sour and Guts Both Improve on the Billboard 200

Both Sour and Guts also improve their standing on the Billboard 200, the most competitive albums chart in the country. Sour is the top performer, as it advances from No. 46 to No. 39, narrowly managing to break back into the top 40. Meanwhile, Guts soars into the upper quarter of the roster once more, surging from No. 62 to No. 50.

Guts Lands Within the Top 10 on Several Rankings

Sour only appears on the three aforementioned lists, while Guts takes up space inside the top 10 on another two rundowns – but it is not currently a vinyl bestseller. Guts climbs to No. 4 on the Top Alternative Albums chart, and it leaps back into the top 10, dancing from No. 11 to No. 8, on the slightly busier Top Rock & Alternative Albums tally.

Guts and Sour Have Both Reached No. 1

Guts has reached No. 1 on three of the four charts on which it appears. The set only missed the highest rung when it comes to the Top Streaming Albums ranking, where it topped out at No. 3. Sour also ruled both the Billboard 200 and Vinyl Albums rosters, though it did not perform nearly as well as its successor on the Top Streaming Albums chart.

Sour, which enjoyed its heyday long before Billboard introduced the Top Streaming Albums tally, never made it higher than No. 26 in the year-plus that it has appeared on the chart.

“The Cure” Becomes an Immediate Smash

“The Cure” is an immediate smash and a top 10 win on every Billboard list on which it debuts. The second You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love single opens at No. 1 on a little less than half of all of those rosters. It immediately leads the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Alternative Songs, Alternative Streaming Songs and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts. “The Cure” nearly manages the same showing on the Billboard Global 200, but Drake’s “Janice STFU” holds at No. 1, keeping Rodrigo from another leader.

Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead” Reaches New Highs

Rodrigo’s slightly older single, “Drop Dead,” improves its position on almost every chart where it can be found, almost surely thanks to the arrival of “The Cure.” “Drop Dead” even establishes new high points on the Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Radio Songs tallies as it surges to Nos. 8, 12 and 16, respectively.
