During an Unknown Worlds dev vlog on June 4, Design Lead Anthony Gallegos confirmed the PRAWN Suit returns as a new chassis in the first major content update, EA 1.1, alongside fresh creatures and resources. He paired the reveal with a new region he calls the scariest the game has been yet, and said the goal is to let players continue existing saves rather than restart.
What’s in the Latest Subnautica 2 Update?
Beyond the PRAWN Suit news, the latest shipped update addressed DLSS crashes and corrected several creatures’ behavior.
It is the third hotfix in roughly three weeks, following earlier patches that smoothed startup crashes and seeded more Silver and Troilite for resource-strapped players. This one also cut Interior Wall costs to a quarter of their old price and landed across PC and Xbox Series X|S, as Unknown Worlds signals a shift from rapid patches toward that first major update.
What Is on the Subnautica 2 Roadmap?
In just about a month, Unknown Worlds has already delivered a bevy of updates and tweaks based on its own roadmap and community feedback.
The public roadmap puts quality-of-life work first in EA 1.1, including better storage, a long-requested sprint option and Habitat Builder tweaks, before EA 1.2 turns to co-op with voice chat, emotes, player trading and revives.
A larger expansion is slated to follow with new biomes, creatures, tools, a vehicle and the next chapter of the story, though the studio is deliberately avoiding hard dates, much like other Early Access rollouts this year.
Why Do These Subnautica 2 Updates Matter?
It’s hard to believe Subnautica 2 is still in Early Access. As it is, Unknown Worlds is doing its best to address fan skepticism and any sentiment that suggests toxic monetization efforts.
The context that raises the stakes is the series’ recent track record: 2021’s Below Zero drew a more muted response, so this sequel still has to prove a co-op-first Subnautica can hold players past launch week. With four million sales already banked, landing the EA 1.1 region and the PRAWN Suit’s return is how that early momentum becomes a genuinely living game.
