Although Harley-Davidson is a quintessentially American brand, the Pro-Ject Audio Harley-Davidson Turntable, a special-edition homage to the iconic motorcycle brand is now available in the U.K through Henley Audio, as well as via dealers in North American and E.U. markets.
For more than a century, Harley-Davidson has built motorcycles defined by bold designs and plenty of mechanical character. Now the turntable maker Pro-Ject has applied that same attention to engineering detail to the world of audio.
Designed as a celebration of Harley-Davidson craftsmanship, the new turntable takes inspiration from the brand’s iconic Bar & Shield logo, bringing together a distinctive sculptural form with premium materials including polished aluminum, stainless steel and genuine leather.
The Harley-Davidson Turntable also combines distinctive design with serious hi-fi engineering, incorporating a robust and resonance-damped construction, precision drive system, sophisticated tonearm, belt-driven synchronous AC motor and pre-adjusted Pro-Ject Pick it PRO cartridge.
Worth The Weight
Pro-Ject’s Harley-Davidson turntable was unveiled at the High-End Vienna Show earlier this year. At the heart of the special-order turntable is an Alu-MDF sandwich chassis, designed to provide high rigidity and effective internal damping. The sculpted plinth takes its form from the Harley-Davidson Bar & Shield logo, while a precision-milled aluminum top surface adds structural strength and a distinctive industrial finish.
The drive system combines a diamond-cut aluminum sub-platter with a heavy glass main platter and a 915g Harley-Davidson record puck. Together, these components create a total moving mass of 2.75kg, helping to maintain stable and consistent playback speeds.
The Harley-Davidson Turntable has an 8.6-inch S-shaped aluminum tonearm with an SME headshell, high-quality internal wiring and a TPE-damped counterweight. Its precision bearing construction has been designed for smooth and accurate arm movement as well as reliable cartridge tracking. A gravity-based adaptive anti-skating system automatically adjusts the effective anti-skating force across the whole of the record’s surface.
Hand-Polished Surfaces
The tonearm’s aluminum components are hand-polished, adding another layer of finish to the turntable’s design. A pre-adjusted Pro-Ject Pick it PRO moving-magnet cartridge completes the package, enabling the Harley-Davidson Turntable to deliver its performance straight out of the box while also allowing for future cartridge upgrades.
A genuine leather mat sits between the record and glass platter, echoing the materials and tactile character associated with Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Height-adjustable aluminum feet with TPE damping provide isolation from the supporting surface and enable the turntable to be precisely levelled.
