Costco’s famously chaotic gas lines could soon get a whole lot shorter… at one giant location.

The bulk shopping retailer is set to dramatically expand its Santa Clarita fueling station after city officials approved plans for a huge overhaul of the site.

The City of Santa Clarita approved plans for the warehouse retailer to expand its gas station.
Demolition has already begun on the premises.
The new station is set to have 16 fueling stations.

A Notice of Exemption filed by the City of Santa Clarita shows the project was approved March 24 and includes demolishing a vacant building at 18649 Via Princessa and replacing it with a new fueling facility.

The filing states the project will include a new fuel canopy, 16 multi-product fuel dispensers, four underground storage tanks, new parking and landscaping, while the existing fueling station will be decommissioned and demolished.

A TikTok posted by Barnes Group Realty said the former 24 Hour Fitness building next to Costco is already being torn down to make room for the expanded station.

Costco is making a HUGE change in Santa Clarita 👀 I found the official filing for a major Costco gas station project and it appears the old 24 Hour Fitness building next to Costco on Via Princessa is being demolished for a brand new fueling facility. The filing mentions: • 16 new fuel dispensers • possible 32 total pumps • demolition of the existing Costco gas station If this actually happens… the Costco gas lines in Santa Clarita may never be the same. Do you think this helps traffic or makes it even worse? 👀 Follow @BarnesGroupRealty for more Santa Clarita news and local updates. The video claimed the current Costco gas station has 12 pumps, while the new setup will feature 32 fueling positions with two pumps at each station.

The applicant for the project is listed are Core States Group on behalf of Costco Wholesale.

Santa Clarita officials determined the project qualifies for a California Environmental Quality Act exemption under a Class 32 in-fill designation, finding the project would not create significant impacts tied to traffic, noise, air quality or water quality.
