Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won the NBA MVP Award for the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Gilgeous-Alexander is the 14th player in NBA history to win the award back-to-back.

He is the first player since Nikola Jokic (2021, ‘22) to win back-to-back MVP Awards, and the first guard since Steph Curry (2015, ’16).

The award will be officially announced at 7:30 p.m. ET Sunday on Amazon Prime.

Gilgeous-Alexander, 27, averaged 31.1 points, 6.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 68 games this season.

He was the overwhelming betting favorite to win the award over the other two finalists, Victor Wembanyama and Jokic.

Gilgeous-Alexander will lead the top-seeded and defending NBA champion Thunder against Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals beginning Monday night in Oklahoma City.
