Swift has been chasing that latter prize throughout much of her career, but she has yet to score even a single nomination. That may change with the inescapable “I Knew It, I Knew You,” a No. 1 hit on a number of Billboard rankings and both a fan favorite and critical smash.
This week, “I Knew It, I Knew You” rises to a new peak on one of the most competitive rosters published by Billboard and nearly earns Swift another No. 1… but she is blocked by one of the biggest hits of the year.

Bruno Mars Keeps Taylor Swift From Another No. 1
Swift misses out on another leader as Bruno Mars’s “Risk It All” keeps in first place. The second single from his recent album The Romantic recently rose to the summit, giving the singer-songwriter his second new leader of 2026, following “I Just Might.”
“I Just Might” established itself as one of the longest-running champions in the history of the Radio Songs chart only a few months ago. Mars’s smash has spent 21 weeks at No. 1, and it holds as the fourth-longest-running leader ever on the roster.
Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” share the record with 27 frames in charge apiece. The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” which held the all-time record for several years, follows with exactly half a year, 26 weeks, at No. 1.
Taylor Swift Matches Several of Her Own Hits
As it steps up to No. 2, “I Knew It, I Knew You” ties several other tunes within Swift’s discography that have peaked in the runner-up rung on the Radio Songs ranking. The Toy Story 5 smash now sits on the same level as “Love Story,” “Delicate,” “The Fate of Ophelia” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker),” her collaboration with former One Direction singer Zayn.
That latter composition was also penned for a movie, and it sonically fit the world of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. The track brought Swift a Grammy nomination in the field for music written specifically for visual media, though it did not manage to earn any love from the Academy Awards.
Taylor Swift Is Chasing a Ninth No. 1 on the Radio List
Swift is on the hunt for her ninth No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart. The superstar already sits alone in fourth place on the all-time ranking of artists who have summited the tally most frequently. Rihanna leads with a lucky 13 champions. Mars follows with 12 No. 1s after adding to his total multiple times this year. Mariah Carey lands just one winner behind him with 11 rulers.
Swift is next with eight leaders. If “I Knew It, I Knew You” eventually climbs one more rung — or if another future single reaches the summit, which is all but guaranteed at this point — she will move closer to becoming only the fourth artist in history to rack up double-digit No. 1 hits on the Radio Songs roster.
