With its 2026 TV range now starting to arrive en masse in European markets hoping to take advantage of the growing FIFA World Cup football fever, TCL has announced a major expansion to the Google TV smart platform its European TVs typically use that will see many models receiving the Gemini AI system alongside Google TV’s regular large collection of apps and streaming services.

TCL has already started pushing out its Gemini update in the U.K., with the rollout extending to other key European markets throughout 2026.

The Gemini firmware update will be delivered to compatible TVs automatically if owners have their Auto Update options activated, bringing all the advanced AI-powered search and Q&A features we’ve come to expect from Google’s home-grown AI assistant.

A key part of Gemini’s TV incarnation will enable users to interact with TCL TVs more naturally by just speaking to them, supporting much more conversational communication styles as you ask the assistant to help you: Discover content to watch (including using personalised recommendations based on an assessment of your viewing habits); answer general questions; play music; control compatible smart home devices and so on.

TV models from TCL’s 2026 range currently confirmed as being ready to receive the Gemini update include its three new ‘SQD-Mini LED’ series (the X11Ls, the C8Ls and the C7Ls), as well as its two new RGB LED technology series (the RM9Ls and RM7Ls). The update isn’t going to be restricted to these most cutting edge TCL sets, though. The full list of supported 2026 models also takes in the MSQLED80L series, the Q7D-UK series, the C8K Pros, the A4000Us, most screen sizes of the A400 Pro series, the A400s, the A400M-UKs, the P8Ls, the T8Ds, the U85As, and the U75As. The 43-inch A400 Pro needs an Android U upgrade to receive Gemini, as do TCL’s new P7Ls, P6Ls and U65A models. One way or another, though, pretty much every 2026 TCL TV, right down to its most entry level sets, is in line to get the Gemini support.

TCL’s Gemini generosity even extends beyond its 2026 models. The brand has confirmed that Gemini is also being rolled out to select 2025 models, namely the X11Ks, the X955s, the C9Ks, the C8Ks, the Q8Cs, the C7Ks, the Q7Cs, the MQLED80Ks, the C6Ks, the Q6Cs, the P8Ks, the T8Cs, the U85s and the U75s, with the C6KSes, P7Ks, P6Ks, V6Cs, U65 and T69Cs also able to get it after first upgrading for Android U.

“TCL continues to focus on making viewing experiences more practical and accessible for consumers across Europe,” says Stefan Streit, CMO at TCL Europe. “Bringing the Google TV with Gemini experience to more TCL TVs reflects our broader approach to connected entertainment, where intuitive interaction and premium display experiences come together naturally in everyday life.”

The addition of Gemini AI to many of TCL’s European TVs can also be seen as another step in TCL’s publicly stated focus on integrating its most premium TV technologies with more connected home entertainment experiences.

Note, finally, that TCL can’t confirm exactly which TV models in which territories will get the updates on which specific dates, so if your own set hasn’t received it yet, there’s no need to panic.
