Tom Holland’s global blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day is projected to easily defeat Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor’s The End of Oak Street in the dinosaur film’s opening weekend frame at the domestic box office.

Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell under the guidance of producer J.J. Abrams, Warner Bros.’ The End of Oak Street and Paramount Pictures’ Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie are the only new films opening wide this weekend against the monolithic Spider-Man: Brand New Day and its blockbuster predecessor The Odyssey.

A sci-fi film that plays like a Jurassic Park meets E.T. meets Stranger Things meets Cloverfield, The End of Oak Street is projected by Deadline to earn $20 million from 3,446 North American theaters. The film is battling for a third-place opening with Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, which is also projected by the trade publication to earn $20 million from 3,545 venues domestically.

Coming in at No. 5 is the music documentary Katseye: Wild Hearts, which Deadline projects will earn $3.6 million in its opening weekend frame. Distributed by Trafalgar Releasing, Katseye: Wild Hearts is playing in 724 North American theaters.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Dominates Box Office For Third-Straight Weekend

Not surprisingly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is eyeing the domestic box office crown for a third-straight weekend with The Odyssey behind it at No. 2.

Spidey studio Sony Pictures Entertainment is projecting the film will earn $67 million from 4,539 North American theaters. If the estimate holds, it will boost the film’s running domestic total to $782.8 million.

Meanwhile, Deadline projects that The Odyssey will make $23 million from 3,217 theaters stateside, which, if the estimate holds, will boost the film’s running total to $504.4 million.

Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film has been tearing up the box office since its debut in late July, when it earned $360 million to surpass Avengers: Endgame and set the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time. The film had already crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office before it entered its second weekend in theaters, where it made another $144.2 million domestically.

Going into the film’s third weekend in theaters, Spider-Man: Brand New Day had earned $715.8 million domestically and $1.108 billion internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $1.823 billion.

Note: This box office report will be updated throughout the weekend. The final numbers for this weekend’s box office will be released on Monday.
