Who knew a record player could be so … cute?

Tiny Vinyl — the company known for making pocket-sized records — introduced this month a tabletop player designed to spin the collectible four-inch discs. Called the Tiny Vinyl Player, the turnable costs $49.99 and can be purchased exclusively via Target.

“When we built the concept of Tiny Vinyl, we were like, ‘Let’s make sure this plays on as many existing record players as possible,’” said Jesse Mann, a music industry veteran and co-founder of Tiny Vinyl. “But we had so many inbound emails from fans asking us to make a player. Target asked us to make a player. So we were like, ‘You know what? Let’s see what we can do.’”

Tiny Vinyl launched wide in summer 2025 in a retail partnership with Target. The records hold about four minutes of music on each side and can be played on most traditional turntables. Produced as limited edition collectibles, artists to release singles via the format include Noah Kahan, Chappell Roan, Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo, Lainey Wilson, Blink-182, The Rolling Stones, BTS and many others. Earlier this year, the company pressed its one millionth record, Mann said.

Now, the Nashville-based company wants to meet the needs of collectors by creating a handful of products that complement the records, including the Tiny Vinyl Player, Mann said. At a price below most entry-level turntables, the Tiny Vinyl Player provides an affordable gateway to record collecting. A few product specifics include:

  • A belt-drive motor that spins the four-inch turntable at 33 1/3 RPM;
  • Built-in speakers and capability to connect to external speakers via Bluetooth;
  • A headphone jack and suitcase cabinet-style design;
  • A built-in storage compartment that holds a handful of Tiny Vinyl records.

“We really wanted to make it approachable and affordable for either someone who’s just getting into vinyl or just wants something adorable and fun and cute on their desk,” Mann said.

In addition to the player, Tiny Vinyl unveiled this month a matching storage crate that can be stacked underneath the player and a display frame that holds four records.

And in the future, Mann hopes to continue expanding what Tiny Vinyl offers. For example, the company could package a Tiny Vinyl featuring demo tracks with a new full-length release, he said, or an arist could pair the studio single on the A side of a Tiny Vinyl with behind-the-scenes audio content on the B side.

Or, in Mann’s words: “At the end of the day, our goal here is to just have fun, right?”
