Looking for Tuesday’s Connections hints and answers? You can find them here:

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means: there’s a new Connections conundrum afoot.

I’m right back in the thick of things after my break. For the gamers out there, I’m playing a couple of things that I can’t wait to tell you all about next week. So, if you want to read about those, please feel free to follow my Forbes blog!

You’ll get a weekly round-up email that includes everything I publish. It’ll mostly be Connections, Quordle and Strands coverage, but I write about other games (mostly Overwatch 2) when I have a chance. You’d be doing me a solid, too — it’s a great way for you to support me and my work without spending a dime. I’d appreciate it.

Anyway, today’s NYT Connections hints and answers are coming right up.

How To Play Connections

In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb or rappers.

There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is typically the hardest one to deduce. The purple group often involves wordplay, so bear that in mind.

Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answers.

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are…

  • Yellow group — shades of red (BRICK, CHERRY, ROSE, RUBY)
  • Green group — little bit of a beverage (DROP, SPLASH, SPOT, SPRINKLE)
  • Blue group — choicest (BEST, CREAM, PICK, TOP)
  • Purple group — ____ bath (BIRD, BUBBLE, MOD, SPONGE)

No perfect game, but I’m up to a week-long streak of wins overall.

I made a mistake right out of the gate by including CHERRY with the blues instead of CREAM. Drat. I fixed that error quickly. No such trouble with the yellows after seeing where CHERRY was supposed to go.

I made a flub with the greens too, by having MUD instead of SPRINKLE. I figured the group had something to do with stains. I’ve never heard of SPRINKLE in the context of a quick beverage. A little bit of something sure, but as a drink specifically? That one’s a little odd to me. Anyway, the purple group that was all that remained, so that’s a victory for me.

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the solution for Thursday’s game if you need them.

P.S. We’re getting back into music recommendations today and I’m expanding things back up from Scottish artists I listened to a lot while growing up to British ones.

There are three artists I remember my parents playing a lot when I was young: Elton John (who I may feature here at some point), R.E.M. and Queen, who were just perfect.

It sometimes makes me sad that I never got to see Freddie Mercury perform in person, but he’s the best frontman of all time in my book. Let this one put a smile on your face and maybe even inspire you a bit:
