Two apparent military aircraft collided mid-air before crashing at an air show in Idaho, according to local reports, though few details about the incident were immediately available.

Key Facts

In posts on social media, the Mountain Home Air Force Base Gunfighters confirmed an “aircraft incident” took place at the Gunfighter Skies Air Show on Sunday.

The incident happened about two miles northwest of the base, and first responders are investigating.

Video of the incident circulating on social media appears to show the pilots ejected from the planes.

In a separate post, the Mountain Home Air Force Base Gunfighters said the base would be locked down in the immediate aftermath.

The crash involved two U.S. Navy E/A-18G Growlers, Reuters reported citing the outlet Airshow News, which were reportedly being flown by members of the U.S. Navy Growler Airshow Team.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

Video of the crash began circulating on social media on Sunday afternoon, including footage from spectators of black smoke rising in the distance. An announcer at the airshow told the crowd the pilots were “found safe,” the Idaho Statesman reported, although the exact status of pilots remains unclear as of Sunday afternoon. Mountain Home Air Force Base did not immediately return a request for comment from Forbes.
