2026 has been a huge year for U2, and there is still plenty more to come before 2027 begins. The Irish rockers dropped a pair of EPs, Days of Ash and Easter Lily, in February and April, respectively. Though neither one was a huge commercial success, the releases reintroduced the band to the world in a big way, and whetted the appetites of millions of fans.

More recently, U2 returned with a new single, “Street of Dreams,” which fronts an upcoming album that will likely be released later in 2026. Weeks after the song arrived, it continues to appear on two Billboard charts and helps the Grammy winner make history on one tally.

U2 Returns to the Top 10

“Street of Dreams” rises on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart this week. The tune lifts from No. 13 to No. 9, breaking into the top 10 less than a month into its run on the roster, which measures the songs receiving the most airplay on adult alternative radio stations – sometimes considered a more laidback, mature rock style – throughout the United States.

U2 Scores Its Thirtieth Radio Top 10

As “Street of Dreams” improves U2 earns its milestone thirtieth top 10 hit on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart. The group becomes the first act in the history of the tally to cross that threshold.

Dave Matthews continues to rank in second place. Both his solo work and the music he has released as part of his namesake band are included in his 26 top 10 smashes. Coldplay lands in third with a milestone 25 appearances between Nos. 1 and 10.

U2 Has Missed the Top 10 Only a Few Times

Only five tracks credited to U2 – or its members – that have reached the Adult Alternative Airplay chart have missed the top 10. That roundup includes “Song for Someone,” “Last Night on Earth,” “Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way,” “We Are the People,” which officially credits Martin Garrix alongside Bono and The Edge, and “Your Song Saved My Life.” For the moment, “Street of Dreams” is the only U2 track to peak at No. 9 on the ranking.

U2 Has Racked Up 14 No. 1 Hits

Almost exactly half of U2’s top 10 hits on the Adult Alternative Airplay list have risen all the way to No. 1. U2 claims the most champions in the history of the ranking with 14, beating Coldplay by just one winner. The group last conquered the tally with “Atomic City,” which rose to the peak position in November 2023.

U2 Slips on Another Rock Chart at the Same Time

“Street of Dreams” has not performed nearly as well on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. Last week, the single rose to a new peak of No. 34. This time around, “Street of Dreams” changes direction and slips one space to No. 35 on the most competitive of all tallies that focus on any radio attention rock tunes receive.
