Well over a year ago, Alex Warren released a song titled “Ordinary,” which changed his life forever. The single, which was eventually featured on his album You’ll Be Alright, Kid, would go on to become not just his biggest hit but a career-building smash.

Long after many of his more recently shared cuts rose and fell off various Billboard charts, “Ordinary” remains not just a win, but a No. 1 on one tally in America. As the beloved song rules yet again, Warren breaks out of a historic tie and claims one of the longest-running champions of all time.

Alex Warren Holds at No. 1With “Ordinary”

“Ordinary” is steady atop the Adult Contemporary chart this week. The roster, published each week by Billboard, ranks the most successful tunes across all radio stations that focus on playing adult contemporary music, a subgenre of pop. The Adult Contemporary list is one of three pop airplay tallies compiled by the company, and “Ordinary” has proved to be one of the sturdiest smashes of all time.

“Ordinary” Passes “Drift Away”

In the 54 weeks that “Ordinary” has spent on the Adult Contemporary chart, it has ruled 29 times. With another frame atop the list to its credit, “Ordinary” breaks out of a match with “Drift Away,” a collaboration between Uncle Kracker and Dobie Gray. Starting in the summer of 2003, that updated version of a years-old track spent 28 weeks ruling the Adult Contemporary list. That held as the all-time longest run at No. 1 for more than a decade. Just days ago, Warren, Kracker and Gray jointly claimed the fifth-longest-ruling songs of all time, but now “Ordinary” has broken out and owns that record by itself.

Miley Cyrus Continues to Hold the All-Time Record With “Flowers”

The all-time most impressive reign at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart belongs to “Flowers” from pop superstar Miley Cyrus. That track reached the summit in April 2023 and would spend more than a year – 57 weeks in total – running the show.

“Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5 and Cardi B, and the Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” separate “Flowers” from “Ordinary.” Those singles dominated the Adult Contemporary ranking for 49, 36 and 35 weeks, respectively.

“Ordinary” Sits on Eight Billboard Charts

“Ordinary” can be found on eight Billboard charts this week, and it has lived on each and every one of them for more than a year. The track occupies a spot inside the top 10 on all but the Digital Song Sales list at the moment. On that roster, “Ordinary” returns at No. 16 after not being counted as one of the bestselling tunes in the nation only a few days ago.

“Ordinary” performs especially well when it comes to the airwaves, as it remains a go-to for DJs across the nation. In addition to leading the Adult Contemporary chart, the global win holds at No. 3 on the Adult Pop Airplay tally and dips one rung to sixth place on the Radio Songs rundown.

Alex Warren’s New Single “Fever Dream” Rises

Warren claims two radio successes this week. His recent single, “Fever Dream,” establishes new peak positions on both the Pop Airplay and Radio Songs charts, climbing to Nos. 17 and 38, respectively. The track slips from its all-time high of No. 13 to No. 16 on the Adult Pop Airplay ranking. “Fever Dream” debuted on the Adult Contemporary register at No. 30 earlier this month, but after only two appearances on the list, it has already disappeared.
