FC Barcelona striker Ferran Torres has agreed to join European rival Paris Saint-Germain according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

Those sources, close to the negotiations, say that Ferran has already given PSG permission to “activate all its machinery” and begin talks with Barça, which has been angered by the striker’s decision to discuss his future in public.

Ferran is currently in the last 11 months of his contract, which expires on June 30, 2027. The Catalans would like to extend his terms but can’t do that until September owing to Financial Fair Play issues.

Furthermore, Ferran’s pay demands have to fall in line with his standing in Hansi Flick’s squad. He’s seen as no more as a secondary member of it, just as he was when Robert Lewandowski was still around ahead of leaving for the Chicago Fire once his own deal expired.

Though granted he scored Spain’s winning goal in the World Cup final against Argentina recently, Ferran also plays second fiddle to Mikel Oyarzabal on Luis de La Fuente’s watch.

Because of this, Barça and Flick are confused as to why Ferran sees himself as a main character up front and reportedly feels put out by a pursuit of Ateltico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

Ferran expects PSG and FC Barcelona to close a deal this week

As already explained, no offer has yet been received at the offices of the Spotify Camp Nou for Ferran from Paris Saint-Germain.

Ferran expects a transfer to be closed this week, however, which means that he wouldn’t even need to report to Flick for preason on August 12 while currently still holidaying after the World Cup.

The 26-year-old has been busy in the country where he became immortal like Andres Iniesta, who scored the only goal of Spain’s first World Cup final triumph in 2010. He’s made numerous appearances on American television this week, while also throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium.

In the eyes of many FC Barcelon fans, though, something in the ball park of $50 million is enough to take away a player that their club paid Manchester City $63 million for in late 2021.
