A wildly popular Canadian-based supermarket chain is making its California debut.
T&T Supermarket — the Asian-themed grocery giant know for its prepared foods and bakery counters — will open its first Golden State outpost store next month in San Jose, the company announced.
The new store will open June 18 at Westgate Center, located at 1600 Saratoga Ave., with opening celebrations set to begin at 8 a.m. before doors officially open to the public at 9 a.m.
The San Jose location marks T&T’s first California location and a major step in the company’s growing push into the United States.
And Bay Area shoppers can expect more supermarkets to come.
T&T has also announced plans to open stores in San Francisco’s City Center on Geary Boulevard near Masonic Avenue and at Friendship Plaza in Millbrae, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Both are expected to open in winter 2026.
The company described the San Jose store at the “first of multiple California locations” in its US expansion.
“San Jose is a long-anticipated store,” T&T CEO Tina Lee said in a statement. “We’re bringing more than just exciting, high-quality foods. We’re exporting a new way of life from Canada: one that’s deeply food-centric, celebratory, rich in tradition, and fresh-obsessed.”
Lee said the company hopes to help Asian families stay connected to the food and traditions they grew up with, while also becoming “a destination for Asian food discovery for everyone.”
The Silicon Valley store will feature thousands of products across Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian and other Asian cuisines, according to the company.
Shoppers can also expect T&T private-label products, including pork soup dumplings, green onion pancakes, kalbi sauces and Taiwanese-style sausage.
The chain is also known for ready-to-eat meals, Asian beauty products, specialty goods, fresh produce, baked goods made in-store and restaurant-style prepared foods.
Ahead of the grand opening, California customers can sign up for a free membership through the T&T app to earn points and redeem rewards.
The company said California shoppers will also be able to use T&T’s online shopping options, including express delivery, in-store pickup and mail delivery, starting June 18.
T&T was founded in Vancouver in 1993 and headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, with offices in Toronto and Los Angeles.
The company operates more than 39 stores across Canada and the United States — including its first US store in Bellevue, Washington, that opened in 2024.
