A 53-year championship drought for the New York Knicks has generated record NBA Finals ticket demand for one of the top five most valuable NBA franchises.

As of Monday, Game 3 between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, which will be held at Madison Square Garden on June 8, is now the most expensive NBA Finals game on record for the secondary ticketing platform TickPick.

The average purchase price to see the Spurs and Knicks, whose postseason run could reportedly generate at least $140 million in gross playoff revenue for Madison Square Garden, is $4,990. That’s up from $4,398 a week ago when New York swept the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 in the Eastern Conference finals.

Meanwhile, the current get-in price, or cheapest ticket available on TickPick, for Game 3 is $4,115. That figure is 336% more expensive than the current cheapest ticket available ($944) for Game 1 in San Antonio on Wednesday night.

More New York Knicks Ticket Details For NBA Finals

Game 4 on June 10 in New York City is currently the second most expensive NBA Finals ticket on record for TickPick. The average purchase price is $4,842, an increase from $4,494 last week. The cheapest ticket available for a fan to watch Game 4 at The World’s Most Famous Arena is $3,680, per data provided to me by the ticketing company.

According to TickPick, Games 3-4 at Madison Square Garden, which may now include an appearance from President Donald Trump after he expressed interest late last month in attending the NBA Finals, are almost 150% more expensive than Games 1-2 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

The Spurs are currently the betting favorite (-198) to win the NBA Finals, according to the latest odds at the FanDuel Sportsbook. San Antonio star forward Victor Wembanyama, who has averaged over 23 points and nearly 11 rebounds a game during the team’s postseason run, is the betting favorite (-180) to win the NBA Finals MVP Award.
