Meet Meta’s billionaire AI guru –a 29-year-old, mullet-wearing tech bro who posts racy meme jokes

Alexandr Wang — the 29-year-old MIT dropout who has spearheaded the launch of Meta’s wildly successful Muse AI app — is a foul-mouthed, mullet-wearing tech bro with a penchant for posting off-color memes on social media.

Last month, two weeks after the Sept. 8 launch of the new Muse AI agent, Wang posted an image of Muse’s cuddly, stuffed-animal-like mascot Jolly, smiling serenely while displaying its large, fuzzy butt.

“[D]oes this do anything for any of you,” Wang wrote, adding, “be honest no judgment zone.”

The post sparked a torrent of copycat memes – some of which Wang reposted – depicting the mascot in sexually charged poses. The techie shared one post that showed Zuckerberg and his own head atop Jolly’s body in the butt-flaunting pose – adding to the mounting online content sexualizing the mascot.

Wang – who was hired by Zuckerberg last year in a $14 billion deal – has brought a heavy dose of free-wheeling Gen Z energy to Meta as the company has grappled with assorted scandals and litigation including a $12.7 billion settlement in California over teen social media addiction.

Wang’s arrival initially sparked tumult and skepticism, with numerous high-profile executives including AI guru Yann LeCun leaving the company in the months that followed. But over the past month, the release of the Muse app has sent Meta’s stock soaring 20% – boosting its market capitalization by more than $400 billion.

“this is f–king great,” Wang wrote on Saturday in response to a post on X that showed how one user employed Muse to build a video game app.

Wang’s online profile is drastically different from Zuckerberg – who has long been known for his straight-arrow Facebook posts that tend to mark family occasions and product launches along with his Brazilian jiu-jitsu matches.

At Meta’s recent annual developer conference, Wang appeared on stage wearing a camouflage “Whitetail Deer” T-shirt and a pair of Crocs. 

One X user mocked Wang for the garb, saying the tech executive likely spent thousands of dollars on the outfit. 

“excuse me I must correct the record on this slander,” Wang shot back, writing on a photo of himself the prices he paid for each item – $30 for the thrifted T-shirt, $60 for the Crocs and $5 Calvin Klein underwear.

Wang highlighted the latter by drawing a red arrow pointing to his crotch. 

Wang’s edgy style could be entirely strategic as Meta has struggled to reel in younger users to Facebook and Instagram platforms. 

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old Zuckerberg, a father of three, has lately played more official roles, including dining with President Trump at the White House last week – a far cry from when Zuckerberg had “I’m CEO, Bitch” printed on his business cards not long after launching the company in 2004. 

Wang co-founded and served as CEO of the data-labeling startup Scale AI, which exploded in value as it became a key vendor for leading AI labs – turning Wang into one of the world’s youngest self-made billionaires. 

Wang joined Meta in a June 2025 deal in which Meta invested $14 billion into Scale, took a 49% stake and hired the CEO to revamp its AI efforts following a disappointing showing of its latest model Llama 4.

Upon joining Meta, Wang was reportedly frustrated by Zuckerberg’s micromanagement of the company’s AI push, calling it “suffocating,” according to a Financial Times report.

Mike Volpi, one of Scale’s board of directors and a partner at Hanabi Capital, told the Wall Street Journal that when “you spend billions of dollars to bring onboard a non-Meta person in a very senior role in this company, it’s going to ruffle some feathers.”

But, he added, “I would give both Mark and Alex an enormous amount of credit for actually being able to make it work.”

The Post has sought comment from Meta.
