Spanish soccer giant Real Madrid has announced a new summer first team transfer via its official website and social media accounts.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Fulham FC have agreed on the transfer of our player Gonzalo Garcia,” a statement on the matter began.

“Gonzalo arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 at just 10 years old and has been part of our club for eleven seasons. Defending the first team shirt, he has won one Intercontinental Cup and one league title.

“Gonzalo has always represented the values of Real Madrid in an exemplary way. Our club thanks him for his commitment and dedication over the years.

“Real Madrid, which will always be his home, wishes him and his family the best in this new stage of his life,” the correspondence read.

Los Blancos provided no further information on facts or figures, but MARCA relayed some details when reporting confirmation of the transfer.

The Spanish newspaper explained how the Premier League club will pay $46 million (€40 million) for 70% of the 22-year-old’s rights, meaning Madrid will keep the remaining 30%.

Real Madrid also keeps a buyback option on Gonzalo, who at Craven Cottage will be reunited with his former Castilla and first team manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

“I am very grateful, very happy to be here,” Gonzalo said via Fulham. “I have to thank the board and Arbeloa for the trust they have placed in me, and I am very, very excited to start.”

His official debut for the west London outfit could come on August 15th during a friendly with Stuttgart, ahead of a possible appearance against another ex-Real Madrid boss in Xabi Alonso for Fulham’s Premier League opener and derby against Chelsea.

Gonzalo was always going to find it hard to become a regular starter at Real Madrid

Making his proper breakthrough at last year’s Club World Cup, where he won the Golden Boot with four goals before Real Madrid fell in the semifinal to Paris Saint-Germain, Gonzalo’s future at the Bernabeu appeared that it could’ve been bright.

Like so many La Fabrica products find out after making it to the first team, however, it was always set to prove difficult establishing himself in the face of international stars such as Kylian Mbappe plus, to an extent, Endrick.

With a buyback clause inserted into the terms, however, as is common in these types of deals with Real Madrid, Gonzalo can always return home one day if he kicks on in England.
