One of the fan favorite designs from the Original Generation of mecha from Super Robot Wars is the mighty RaiOh, and now a new toy is on the way for it.
Handled by Sentinel, this will be a big toy. Coming in at 28 cm tall, it will use a lot of diecast. So I expect this to be a very hefty figure.
The articulation also looks genuinely great, with the figure being able to handle various dynamic poses with seemingly great ease.
However, all of this excellence comes at a steep price, as this toy will cost 47,300 yen (or around $295 at the current exchange rate).
That is a lot, but considering that we’ve had precious few toys of this mecha over the years, and none of them looking half as good as this, I am fine the hefty price tag.
As for the original design, the DGG-XAM3 RaiOh was featured in Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 on the PlayStation 2. Piloted by Touma Kanou, it was a very potent unit, which was eventually upgraded to the DGG-XAM3C DaiRaiOh towards the end of the game.
Considering that Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 is one of the most successful and beloved installments in the long-running series, I’m surprised that the RaiOh hasn’t received more love over the years.
So I am suitably elated that the toy masters at Sentinel have risen to the challenge, as each of their releases has never failed to impress.
If you’re interested in picking up this Riobot RaiOh, then head on over to Sentinel’s online store, as pre-orders are now open and it will be released this October.
