Following the 35th anniversary of the Super Robot Wars series, Super Robot Wars Y is getting another free update and some new DLC.

The free update unlocks the extra units that were previously a pre-order bonus, so the OG mecha from Super Robot Wars V and the Cybuster. Not to mention additional missions and other goodies.

The really exciting news is the new DLC, which includes Space Runaway Ideon, Mobile Suit Gundam Char’s Counterattack Beltorchika’s Children, Idolmaster Xenoglossia, Star Driver The Movie, Cross Ange Rondo of Angel and Dragon, and Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the free update and new DLC:

Version 1.3.0 Update

  • Area Mission “Revol. War (All Three Episodes)”
  • Area Mission “NOAH Brand’s Battles (All Three Episodes)”
  • Expansion Pack Episode 1: “Contact”
  • Limited Missions “Visitors from Another World” and “The Weight of Purpose”, which unlock the OG mecha from Super Robot Wars V and the Cybuster, respectively

DLC Expansion Pack: Infinite Darkness

  • Eight new playable units
  • 26 new Area Missions
  • One new Assist Crew member
  • Hard mode “MASTER” added
  • Bonus Mission “Expansion Pack Purchase Bonus”
  • Power Parts “A. Advent Cross Badge” and “A. Advent Starlight Badge”
  • Credit: 100,000
  • MXP: 6,000

As for the inclusion of Eureka Seven, I had hoped we would get the mecha from the original Eureka Seven anime series, but the return of Ideon and especially Beltorchika’s Children are very welcome indeed.

Ideon in particular is a fascinating choice, as the mecha itself is unbelievably powerful, and when it appeared in games like Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, it somewhat broke the game’s balance.

So, having it as a DLC release this late means that it shouldn’t really spoil anything in the main game, especially as the DLC is an entirely optional purchase.

I am glad to see the Hi-Nu Gundam return, though, as this is arguably my favorite Gundam design by Yutaka Izubuchi.

The free update is available today, with the new DLC released tomorrow.
