President Trump on Thursday announced $2.4 billion in computing power commitments from major tech giants including Nvidia, OpenAI and Anthropic to support federal agencies’ AI-driven scientific research — while doubling down on his effort to rename AI.

The funding will be used to bring the Genesis Mission – an effort to use AI to improve federal scientific developments – to 14 agencies across energy, health and space, according to the Trump administration.

Nvidia is contributing $1 billion, the largest single donation. AMD has vowed to give $500 million, OpenAI is donating $200 million and Anthropic and Google have each pledged $150 million.

On social media on, Trump raised the sake in his effort to rebrand AI as “super intelligence.”

Elon Musk, left, looks on as President Donald Trump presents the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday.

“The White House considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY!” he wrote on Truth Social.

The commander-in-chief recently unveiled the name to push back against AI doomerism and cast the tech in a better light.

Tech leaders appear to be embracing the name change, with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang saying in a Thursday statement: “With a $1 billion investment, Nvidia is putting advanced Super Intelligence in the hands of America’s scientists to accelerate breakthroughs in medicine, energy and materials.”

For Genesis Mission, AMP and Emerald AI committed $100 million each, while AWS, Armada, Crusoe and Micron are each chipping in $50 million, according to a press release.

The announcement was part of the White House’s “Science: A New Golden Age” summit. The Trump administration initially launched the Genesis Mission in November 2025 through the Energy Department.

The pledges come as Trump has been pushing for broader acceptance of artificial intelligence or, as he calls it, “super intelligence.”

Leading tech executives – including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI’s Sam Altman and SpaceXAI founder Elon Musk – have called for global cooperation to pace the development of the new tech after one researcher warned it could lead to human extinction.

The president has pushed back, arguing the greater threat is allowing China to win the AI race by slowing development of the latest, most powerful models at home.

Trump last week hosted the nation’s most powerful tech titans at an AI summit at the White House, welcoming execs from firms like Amazon, OpenAI and Google, who were collectively worth more than $1.8 trillion.
