It’s no secret that the creators and influencers continue to influence how we shop, travel, and find information. From TikTok announcing TikTok GO, sharing how users can now directly book their next adventure in the app, to Google testing AI-powered conversations on YouTube, here’s an update of what’s happening in the creator economy this month.
Book Your Next Adventure On TikTok with TikTok GO
TikTok announced on its Newsroom recently that TikTok GO partners include Expedia, Get Your Guide, Booking.com, and Viator.
For creators, TikTok GO is a major opportunity to earn commissions and creator campaigns. Travel creators on TikTok who feature premier destinations, tours, attractions, and hotels can connect their content to bookings.
TikTok shared that over 200 million Americans use the app. And TikTok GO is here to help its users plan weekend trips, vacations, and follow creator recommendations.
Meta Ends Privacy Feature Affecting Your Instagram DMs
Instagram’s Help Center recently posted that they ended E2E encryption on May 8th, 2026.
E2E encryption adds extra security to messages and calls within chats. Every E2E conversation has a unique key that locks the message as it’s being sent. The message recipient can only see the content if they own one of the special keys for the chat.
Prior to Meta’s announcement, Facebook and Instagram could not read messages. Meta’s only option and platform for end-to-end chat options is WhatsApp.
“Google Launches Ask YouTube” An AI Conversational Experiment
Google shared on the YouTube Help page last month that it’s testing “Ask YouTube” for YouTube Premium members 18+. “Ask YouTube” is a conversational search experience. Google shared its goal of helping users interact with the search bar.
If a user types “I need help planning a weekend trip to New Orleans” in the “Ask YouTube” search bar, they will receive a mix of long-form videos, text descriptions, and YouTube Shorts. Users will find relevant videos and video segments to answer questions. Creators may benefit from this AI-powered search experiment. As creators, providing relevant information can push your content to the top of search results and increase discoverability.
Target Sunsets Affiliate Program But Launches Club Target & Target Ambassadors with LTK
In April 2026, Target announced that it would retire its creator affiliate program. With the sunset of this creator program comes two brand-new programs: Club Target and Target Ambassadors, powered by LTK. LTK is a creator platform and shopping app. Target recently broke down these two programs on their news and features page.
Here are the differences between these two programs:
Target Ambassadors is designed for Target’s established creator and influencer partners on LTK. This ambassador program allows content creators and influencers to work directly with the brand. Target hosting its ambassadorship program on LTK also allows the retailer to manage creator partnerships, offer enhanced commissions and incentives, and create new opportunities.
Club Target is designed for everyday creators and to support their biggest fans. Club Target members receive a guided, gamified experience. Club Target creators are provided with tools and inspiration to create and share content. This is also a multi-tiered program with offers and bonuses like commission opportunities, Target gift cards, and more.
