Talk about highway robbery.

Los Angeles motorists are being mugged at the pump, with the average price of regular gas in the LA-Long Beach area hitting $5.707 per gallon Friday, according to AAA.

That’s almost 28% up from the $4.471 drivers were paying one year ago.

The surge adds more than $18 to the cost of filling a 15-gallon tank.

The California Post found a handful of stations where Angelenos could still fill up for less than the regional average.

Drivers across the Golden State are feeling nearly as much pain, with California’s overall average reaching $5.651 per gallon — up from $4.482 at the same time last year, AAA data showed.

But a review of gas prices listed on Google Maps by the California Post found a handful of stations where Angelenos could still fill up for less than the regional average.

The cheapest of the bunch was a 76 station at Pico Boulevard and Barrington Avenue in West LA, where regular gas was listed at $5.16 per gallon as of Thursday, July 30.

That was nearly 55 cents below the LA average, enough to save $8 on a 15-gallon fill up.

Even with a few outliers — “cheap” gas in Los Angeles is very much a relative term.

Across town, La Brea Gas at Slauson and La Brea avenues in Windsor Hills was charging $5.22 per gallon.

Downtown drivers could shave about 31 cents per gallon at the 76 station near Olympic Boulevard and Alameda Street, where regular was listed at $5.40. The station sits along the eastern edge of downtown near the Arts District.

In the San Fernando Valley, the ARCO at Vanowen and Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood — near Hollywood Burbank Airport — was offering regular for $5.50 per gallon.

The ARCO at Figueroa Street and Avenue 45 in Highland Park rounded out the cheaper options at $5.54 per gallon.

Even that price was about 17 cents below the regional average — a sign that “cheap” gas in Los Angeles is very much a relative term.

Prices listed online can fluctuate and may differ by the time motorists arrive.
